Pop into our receptions to register to take part
From beautiful begonias to gorgeous geraniums, plant up your patio with summer colours and enter this years floral 2024 extravaganza.
You can buy first class bedding and pot thriving plants from local businesses like Lyonshall Nurseries and Wellington Home & Garden Centre.
Three categories to enter.
- TALLEST SUNFLOWER (tip: keep your plants inside until they’re about 30cm high then plant into larger container. Use broken eggshells to protect from slugs)
- MOST BEAUTIFUL PLOT ON PARK (tip: if bedding plants feel like a faff, plant up some summer flowering shrubs in your pots and they’ll be in place for next year!)
- MOST WILDLIFE FRIENDLY PLOT. Grow butterfly friendly plants in your pots, put up some bird feeders or turn your food waste into compost - the worms will love it (lots of ideas online).
- Judging will be on Monday August 19th.
Earlier this month we revisited last years Pearl Lake winners Max and Gillian Granger on their colourful patio - Max gave us a few vital tips …… make sure you use fresh compost in your pots, never let them get too dry!
