It’s been four years in the making, involved numerous trials and tribulations along the way, but we are now very proud to announce that our long-awaited fishing pool is now officially open at our Arrow Bank Country Holiday Park.
Excavations for "Jennifer's Pool", dedicated to a close family friend of the owners who passed away recently, originally started back in 2019. Although they already have the River Arrow alongside teaming with trout, pike and chub, the plan was to offer our holiday home owners in Eardisland something on a par with our Pearl Lake facility - a carp anglers paradise!
From oxygen depletion to bacterial infection followed by an onslaught of predators, creating a suitable environment for several hundred carp to thrive in has proved a difficult task. With sufficient drainage now in place and the necessary predator-proof fencing fully erected the water quality and safety of the carp has finally paid off.
This weekend saw the first huge catch take place by a John Smith who was staying at Arrow Bank on one of our touring pitches. John is pictured with his catch before slipping it back in new pool.
Holiday home owner, park fisherman and angling author Terry Knight says it’s now the perfect environment for the carp to thrive: “There’s an old saying that fish are better looked after than the fishermen’s wives and partners and it’s quite often true!
We’ll be introducing several hundred baby carp into the pool in the near future and can look forward to some excellent sport. ”
